The new dialog has individual tabs but they are connected content- 
wise, i.e. if you select a bookmark and then switch over to the world  
view, the bookemark area will be marked and you can still zoom in and  
change it if desired.

It seems to me that if the world view is really used to modify  
bookmarked areas, there should be two additional things on the world  
view pane: (a) a scale like the one in the main map window, and (b) a  
"zoom to selection" button so that, after selecting a bookmark, you  
can immediately zoom onto that area.

One could also zoom to the current selection by default when you  
switch to the world view, but then you would lose the "where in the  
world is this area" function it currently serves.
