That's something else I've been looking at. So far I've kept the
shapefile in lat/long and let mapnik project it. It makes it somewhat
easier to know where you are. It just occurs to me though that by
projecting to mercator and then splitting, you naturally get smaller
tiles near the poles, where the coastlines tend to be more, err,
rough.
And there's a library to do that for me also. Thanks for the tips,
we're getting there... :)
