[OSM-talk] long term, but non permanent road closures

A road with start and end dates still gets rendered though doesn't it? So by
using tags (access=no, date_on=...) which aren't checked by osmarender/mapnik
then people will be following our maps down the closed road.

When I found one of these in Bedford, I changed it to highway=closed:secondary
to reflect the actual situation (no usable road there) and the osmarender map
got updated within an hour or so. If someone changes it back to
highway=secondary, it should appear on the map again pretty quickly.

If the renderers *did* want to look at date tags, then there needs to be some
script running to say "tile x,y needs to be rerendered on 2007-12-20 when it
reopens". Is anyone working on such a script?

A neater solution might be to try and do the "dotted version of the road
rendering" idea
