[OSM-talk] Potential data from the Falkland Islands government

I mentioned a while ago that I intended to ask the Falkland Islands
government if they'd like to donate some data. It appears that they would
:-)

I've quoted below some parts of a message that I've just received, and
which I'd like some advice on:

>We use a Trimble survey grade 5700 GPS system, Trimble DGPS ProXL mapping
system and Sokkia Total Stations to collected survey data for all
government projects including civil engineering schemes and
>cadastral land plans.
>
>I use AutoCAD Map 2007 with Key TerraFirma (ground modelling and design
package) to produce maps, plans and construction drawings.
>
>We also use GeoTIFFs of the 1:500,000 map series as background raster
maps on which we overlay our vector data. Unfortunately we do not hold
the copyright for these; therefore I cannot provide you with copies.
However, I can provide you with our vector data. This includes the
complete road network and a street map of Stanley. We work in the local
coordinate system (Sapper Hill 1943) which uses the International 1924
Ellipsoid datum and UTM zone 21 coordinates. This is supported by Garmin
handheld GPS.
>
>Can you system import or convert AutoCAD dwg or dxf files?

I don't know the answer to this question :-/ If he supplies me with dwg or
dxf files, can we use them?
