I'm not expert, but I think your statement can be misleading : Let's
say Navteq sees something that they regard as a spelling error in the
map provided by the city planner, perhaps changing "Roets Street" to
"Ruts Street" because they feel most people will be searching for the
second variation. They may well argue that they are adding value to
their map (not an Easter egg) and if you copy all their variations you
may get caught.

*Not* doing this subliminally can be quite difficult if you're
surveying with a GPSr with built in maps.
