so i've been gathering.  :-)

i guess what i need to remember is that when a new feature is added,
the renderers need to be updated to recognize it anyway, and at that
point their stylesheets or whatever will get updated as well.  the
process of adding a feature will never be automatic, so one more
decision for the renderer developer is no big deal.
