I hope you mean "will insert a new node into any existing way" instead
of "split an existing way into two ways at the intersection". There's
no need to split a way just because another way intersects it, and I
hope the editors aren't encouraging/facilitating this behavior. It
just leads to an unnecessary proliferation of ways.
