Thanks for that - I'll look at it when I get some time. I can't get my
head around perl, but I do know some Python, so I'm more likely to get
something useful out of a Python script. Luckily for me, the data is
really quite simple - it's *just* roads, and I'm told all roads outside of
Stanley (ie all the ones in this dataset) are unsurfaced, so I only need a
single set of tags.

Don't worry about it, these things happen. Luckily I worked out how to do
it in GRASS. I'll add a page to the wiki on how to do that later.
