I love potlatch and what you are doing, this is not a criticism of
potlatch, but of the way OSM deploys betas in general.
Please can http://dev.openstreetmap.org/ (or test.openstreetmap.org if
you prefer) lead to a copy of the OSM website, but with the latest beta
prototype version, like http://test.musicbrainz.org/. This should be a
dev servers raison d'être.
Asking the general non-techie community to test the easy to use editor
for non-techies by installing svn, rails, mysql ... and who knows what
else and then trying to run it on their own machines is just crazy. Post
it at http://dev.openstreetmap.org/ or http://test.openstreetmap.org/
(but not http://dev.openstreetmap.org/~richardf/rails/something_else),
and I promise I will test it, and I'll even ask my wife and people at my
office to try it as well.
