I consider three possibilities:
- road is inside the forest
- road is outside the forest
- road defines the boundary of the forest (thus neither inside nor outside)
Though, that may be my mathematical background, where there is a clear
distinction between the boundary and the outside (the forest being an
open set which therefore does not include its boundary).
PS. Funny, it actually works. You can probably find a tree arbitrarily
close to the road if the road is the boundary. Yet there cannot be
trees on the road, so arguably the road is the outer limit of the
forest but not actually included in it. Thus the forest is an open
set.
Heve a nice day.
