Just some input from the rendering point of view:
If you want a Way rendered you need a node every 10km or less at the
equator and about one node at every single km at 85°N for it to show up
correctly on the osmarender maps.
The osmarender tiles do not coincide with the quadtiles, due to their
mercator projection.
