Does the road name keep changing? (answer: split way, name each)

Or could one section have 2 names?
It depends on the nature of it how/why it has tow names. Like 'Sometown
Highstreet' might also be part of the B755, then you use ref=B755.
Or is it like here in Durham, a terrace of houses has a road sign making it
most confusing. Someone has suggested I make a new way for that.
Or is it some other case?

A map link to the area in concern is often helpful, and/or a photo.

Oh, I also heard that there was a road somewhere that was a border and one
side of the road had a name, and then the other side had a different name.
No idea how that was solved.
(and I haven't got into relations yet to know about them)
