I don't think so. You will end with lot of points at taxi stations, a 
lot of big roads but almost no small streets.

A bike surveyor takes notes about street names and often aims at 
completion. Much better.

If I buy a car some day, I will buy a Tomtom or a Garmin Nuvö. It's not 
so expensive, and it will already have my whole country accurately mapped.

Run a pool. I think you will be surprised.
