On a related note, I was comparing Google's coverage of parts of my
town to my recently surveyed areas, since there are some new housing
developments (not on Google's map).  I used the map comparison tool
Dair used here[1], and consequently remembered that Google serves
different data (TeleAtlas) via their maps API than they do on their
maps site (NavTeq)[2].  Just something to keep in mind when comparing
map coverage!  I found that for my area, the TeleAtlas data actually
seemed to be slightly more up-to-date, but still had quite a few
errors.
