Both mappaint and tagging presets are going exactly into the direction 
of WYSIWYG editing - which I still think is the way to go as it's so 
much faster to work with (not only for newbies) if it's done well (there 
are some things that needs to be improved to make it that way).

Now I understand what problems some people have with mappaint (beside 
the problems it still has) and tagging presets - they just don't like 
WYSIWYG.
