I've put together an OpenLayers page which overlays the Google Hybrid
transparent map layer over the top of OSM Mapnik/Osmarender.
I hope this will assist some with the comparison of OSM completeness etc.
It's been tested under FF2, Opera, Safari (on windows), and IE7. It
does not function with IE6 due to the alpha transparency of the png
that I use to dim the background with.

Example of London:

Thanks to Christopher Schmidt for an OpenLayers patch to allow Google
to use custom layers, allowing me to publish this tool without
breaking the Google Terms of Use.
Hope this is of use.
