Hi. I have a question regarding waterway=riverbank. Currently I am mapping
coastline and thus riverbank is commonplace. I am mapping mainland (not
island) coastline as shown in the following link:
http://www.myimagehub.com/files/view/1065/coastline%20problem.PNG

Originally I mapped it to be unclosed riverbanks, connected to the
coastline. At the mouth of the river I connected both ends together asa
coastline only.

However, osmarender did not render the river. Thus, after some consultation
in #osm, it was changed to a closed riverbank instead, while the coastline
still remains.

The following page mentioned nothing about waterway=riverbank need to be a
closed way to be rendered properly.
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Proposed_features/Large_rivers

I also vaguely remember that my original way of mapping riverbank and
coastline worked, and rendered correctly in other are I am mapping.

My question is, does waterway=riverbank really need to be a closed way for
it to be rendered properly in osmarender?
