I did a little bit research. Pubcookie comes default with an
authentication handler called 'fork' which would allow us to write a
simple script which would authenticate against the current user
database. This would also require no changes in rails stuff if I'm not
completely wrong.

Then the only problem would be integration with Mediawiki.
