Thats not true.

You login in with an openId, which contains a domain.
This could be: "frederik.example.com"

But normaly the service (OpenStreetMap)  chose to display the user under a 
other username (could be "frederik" or whatever)

Of couse, ist should be optional to use openID or not, but it would a nice 
feature.
