I did say it was a quick look. FWIW, this is the reference i found:

Always a reasonable response coming from somebody who's actually done
real work. But maybe we should first see whether people see value in
what I'm describing. In any event, since I've never been near any of
this code, it's unlikely that I'll be able to add value to it any time
soon. However, perhaps someone else has a quicker path to doing so and
will feel motivated.
