I was also getting the same error sporadically this morning (about 09:00 your time) when clicking on the View tab on htttp://www.openstreetmap.org when leaving Edit mode.  It may have happened the other way round too,  but I can't specifically remember (age :-) ).  It would then work with no error repeating the same cycle.
