[OSM-talk] script for data metrics of OSM

Hi,

Are there any scripts lying around somewhere that does summary
statistics for an OSM file like:

1. length of roads
2. number of POIs
3. number of tags
etc.

I want to do simple metric comparison of OSM coverage vis-a-vis some
government data (of a specific area)

PS:  The govenrment data will not be added to OSM for some conflicting reasons.
