AFAIK there are no explicit hints, but there is code in osmarender to
do bezier curves. There there is a lot of fudging to make it look
good, but it's there. The main problem being that angles of 90 degrees
or greater should possibly not be rounded. I think we can pretty
safely turn it on for roads and river boundaries/coastlines. Though
the parts that represent piers need to be exempted somehow.
