[OSM-talk] [tagging] RFC - proposal for landuse=surface_mining

hello,

i'd like to make a proposal for landuse=surface_mining

there are vast areas of land which are used for extraction of mineral 
resources (lignite/uranium/bauxite/gravel/sand) near the surface.

we currently don't have an appropriate tag for these areas and these 
areas are just "holes" on our map.

landuse=quarry is something similar but only covers stones as resources, 
as a consequence it would be depriciated as landuse=surface_mining is a 
superset.
