What is the problem?  I created a lake with 2485 nodes and had no 
problem to edit it with JOSM, 
http://www.openstreetmap.org/index.html?lat=58.02&lon=15.20&zoom=10

Swedish lakes have a lot of nodes because of their shape, not 
because of their size.
