Not a bad idea, as long as it's done sparingly - i.e. we only use it  
when there's something important to say - and with some discernment so  
that Potlatch users don't see JOSM-specific messages, and vice versa.

In addition, for a while I've been considering making Potlatch aware  
of a "wiki" tag. So if you tagged (say) the Swaffham Bulbeck place  
node with "wiki=Ely", Potlatch would pop up a little message saying  
"Click here to discuss mapping this area", hyperlinked to  
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Ely .
