Here's a challenge for those with some time?? Checking and simplifying (to
the extent possible) the instructions for JOSM and Potlatch. The videos that
have been done previously are great but probably now somewhat out of date?
Steve did some great ones recently too, but again perhaps they didn't cover
everything in simple steps.
My thought was to break down the "tutorials" into small modules, where each
module can stand along and makes sense on its own. A module would cover just
one action (or a logically grouped set of actions) and not try to be a
tutorial for the whole editing suite. Breaking it down in this way would
make it easier to swap out a module when part of the software gets updated.
It would also make fining the bit of help you needed a lot quicker
(effectively indexed).
We need some volunteers for this. Is anyone interested in starting the
process by listing out potential modules on the wiki?
We are hearing that for new users the barrier to entry is getting higher.
Its easy for the old hands to see that new functionality makes our lives
easier but we mustn't forget it potentially means a lot more to learn for
those just joining the project.
Cheers
Andy
