Not wishing to poor cold water on the scheme, as I think its a great idea.. BUT
on http://foundation.openstreetmap.org/?page_id=18 . Under the conditions the recipients have to agree to is: "Give consent to the use of your name, a digital photo and details of your mapping activities for use in local or international media for OSM promotion purposes."
I would have thought that in some places on the list of developing countries a local contributor might not want that level of publicity.
