[OSM-talk] Section Township Range? Boundary data

At present I don't believe that any grid-line structure is in place.

Alberta is in a similar situation, the local standard map grid (ATS) is
defined algorythmically. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberta_Township_System

Many physical features, such as township/range roads follow these grid lines.

There are 'free' (as in beer) shapefiles available from
http://www.altalis.com unfortunately we don't (yet) have permission to use
these in OSM.

One would think that this could be added relatively easy to the database,
and with a little effort be presented as an overlay on the slippy map on
the website.

In fact a single overlay could be used for all local map grid systems,
just changing at boarders.

Cheers,
Mungewell.
