[OSM-talk] URL for trace pages?

is there a reason that you have to know the username before browsing
to the OSM page for a GPX trace?

e.g. the URL like this works:

http://openstreetmap.org/user/MAPconcierge/traces/114312

but why doesn't the URL like this also work?

http://openstreetmap.org/trace/114312



there is another page of computer-readable details:

http://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.5/gpx/114312/details

but that requires authentication to view it?
