Sigh.....there is nothing wrong with adding information that is copyrighted or otherwise protected. The problem is doing so if the copyright owner has not given permission for this to take place. Almost every piece of work has a copyright owner, including the contributions I make to OSM. I'm perfectly happy for my contributions to OSM to be used by others in any way, shape or form, as long as they comply with the OSM licence. That's why I contribute.
Now ask the same question about whether Google, or wikimapia.org, or whoever are happy for results derived from their "coordinate-finding service" to be used by whoever in any way, shape or form, as long as it complies with the OSM licence. I could be wrong, but it's not totally clear to me that that is the case. The 'spirit' of their licences tends to suggest not. So it's safer to err on the side of caution, especially as there are suitable alternatives which *have* given permission for similar use in any way, shape or form, according to the OSM licence.
