Greetings all, perhaps this is of some interest,

I've just released a set of patches for the Xastir program used
in amateur radio for APRS station tracking and reporting that
allows the use of OSM data (via the WMS-C server at telascience).

A screenshot as an example:

Notice how particularly well the track of the car in the  centre
registers with the map.
