This is not the case with Vista HCx and 60CSx when the settings are correct:
In the track menu goto Setup
- Enable the Wrap When Full option
Goto Data Card Setup menu
- Enable Log Track To Data Card option

Now you can log the raw trackpoints to the SD-card practically forever.
