thanks for considering German a "major world language" ;-).
Fortunately there are so many Germans in the "OSM-world", that this is
not an issue for them. In Italy it is a problem though, to translate
all the pages that appear in the wiki into Italian, not to mention the
effort to keep them up-to-date (which is an even more timeconsuming
job). Nonetheless also the italian community is trying their best to
have at least the most important stuff translated, and I completely
agree that local translations are one of the keys of getting the
system work in a country.
