[OSM-talk] Key and value maximum length

Hi,

I'm pretty sure there is. In JOSM we check for keys and values whose size
exceeds 255 characters, otherwise the server throws a Precondition
Violation. In JOSM we count "Unicode code units" (that what's
String.length() does in Java) which is closer to "characters" than to
"bytes".

Regards
Karl

Betreff: [OSM-talk] Key and value maximum length

Quick question for which I didn't find an answer in the wiki:

* is there a maximum length of tags (keys and/or values)? (I'm sure there
was one, but I don't know if there's still a limit today)
* if there is, what is it (and is in it number of bytes, or number of
characters)?

Greetings
Ben
