The technical term for these surface infiltration beds used by local 
governments and industry (in the Netherlands) is 'wadi', referring to 
dry riverbeds like found in deserts. The Dutch section shows a few 
photographic examples that could apply in more temperate climates. The 
English wadi page shows some of the large dry riverbeds as found in deserts.
