Ummmm huh? You can easily have both an IPv4 and IPv6 address on the same interface, alternatively you can use the IPv4 address as the IPv6 address.

What's that got to do with anything, in the coming few years home internet providers will start allocating IPv6 en masse, it's been talked about for years but from what I've seen lately with companies pushing for home router support and what not it's coming.

Yes and to a large extent IPv6 space is being wasted in a similar manner, but this isn't really related to OSM and is a typical straw man argument when everything else has failed.
