[OSM-talk] "scale" a ShapeFile in Y-direction?

Hello,

i can create a map with the "blue marble" as background.

I'd like to overlay the boundaries of the continents and islands and states.
The only correct ShapeFiles i could find have tiles and create a pattern that
doesn't look good in the final image.

I have a ShapeFile that seems to be incorrect, scaling it in Y-direction
could make it fit the background.

Is it possible to draw the ShapeFile "scaled" in Y-direction?

Either by SRS or by an operation in QGIS?

This is the SRS that i use to draw the ShapeFile in osm.xml, is it possible to
set a "scaling factor"?

srs="+proj=merc +a=6378137 +b=6378137 +lat_ts=0.0 +lon_0=0.0 +x_0=0.0 +y_0=0
+k=1.0 +units=m +nadgrids=@null +no_defs +over"

Thanks for any hints,
Torsten.
