  Re: Tiger in the US - in nearly all cases, I will change something that is 
signed as "XYX rd" to "XYZ road", following standard US postal code rules 
for all the different abbreviations.   I don't know the history, but is this 
something that could be automated?  In the US, an St prefix abbreviation is 
always Saint; an St suffix is always street.
