validator results must be checked and no user should blindly confirm.
and validator does the wrong thing for tiger data!
I can't remember any discussion about it on #osm, I am not subscribed  
to #osm-de
there is no wiki page describing this bot.

the bot can't distinguish between imports and user edits. the errors  
discussed for unclosed polygons are errors and should be fixed. no  
objections here

this is not correct. this is what you would do based on the data you  
have seen. other users have different reasons why things are done in a  
specific way. I asked for a description what is done if 2 nodes have  
same coordinate and are used in different ways. this is still not  
answered. you can't say there is no information loss. any node deleted  
is information loss. there has to be a good reason and to do it and it  
must be agreed upon that such a bot  has no negative side effects.  
otherwise has to be considered as vandalism.
there are definitely many places where merges are good. But I fear you  
have destroyed a lot of tiger data this way. explanations are in a  
couple of other mails.
again stop it.
since you mentioned #osm-de I assume you understand german "Gut  
gemeint ist das Gegenteil von gut"
