Wow, there's quite a bunch of misinformation about this. Let's try and 
clear some of it up.

Potlatch 1 compiles _only_ with open source command-line tools (Ming) 
and will run, to a lesser or greater degree, with an open source SWF 
player (Gnash).

Potlatch 2 compiles with open source command-line tools (Flex Open 
Source SDK). There are no mouse clicks involved anywhere along the line.

Because Potlatch 2 uses ActionScript 3, which compiles to a different 
bytecode (AVM2), it does not currently run on an open source SWF player. 
I have every confidence that an open source SWF player will, in time, 
gain AVM2 support; Lightspark 
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/lightspark/) may be the most promising 
candidate.

Trying to reconcile the "we need an AS3 version!" and "we must have free 
software!" camps is impossible within the same editor. Fortunately, we 
have more than one editor: others are available and indeed I have no 
intention to deprecate Potlatch 1, but would like to keep it available 
in parallel. Meanwhile Potlatch 2 development advances at a cracking 
pace; I think we had seven people hacking on it at WhereCamp EU this 
weekend.
