it should be possible to generate names for the ways by looking at the
last named way or the last place on the route.
Some examples:
When I'm on that way, it could say "between Gau-Odernheim and
Dolgesheim, 2km east of Gau-Odernheim"
or, when I'm closer to Dolgesheim, it could say
When I'm on that way, it could say "between Gau-Odernheim and
Dolgesheim, 1km west of Dolgesheim"
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?way=39230412
It would be more complicated when we would be on this way:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?way=66157482
It could say "Between Gau-Odernheim, Bechtolsheim and Dolgesheim, 3km
east of Gau-Odernheim and 3km northwest of Bechtolsheim"
Is this the kind of messages you thought of?
Peter
