This tells you all you need to know; it's not science, it's just a 
tourist spectacle.

I once kept a tally on my bathroom mirror to count how many times the 
sink water went each way.  I've met a few well-travelled people who've 
seen that trick in Ecuador and believe it.  Strangely, they can never 
remember if it's supposed to be clockwise N and anti S, or vice-versa.
