As I am one of these "some mappers", I only partly agree here:
The worse routing results should be very rare as I propose to add any 
crossings, that are
- marked explicitely or
- located at a street intersection (and it's possible to cross there).

In this case the only case, where worse routing results should appear 
is, when you simply want to cross a street and go to a place near that 
(where you don't meet a intersection in between).
But in that case usually you would not use a routing machine to get the 
directions, as it's a trivial task here.
