Replace "author" by "last modifier", and it will be closer to reality.
I don't consider myself as an author when I contribute to OSM. I'm
adding data in a database, and these data are factual ones, not things
I created with my imagination.
All together we're pushing the project forward like ants building a
huge ant-hill.
Now that we are in the ODbL logic, all the history of object is there
to allow tracing, not to give attribution to individuals.

It is an attribution to the ant-hill as a group.
