Not sure where you're trying to go? I think the design cleanup is overall an improvement (disclaimer: I'm Saman's colleague). I'm not sure how your comment is going to get to a constructive discussion about improving OSM.org's design, which is clearly necessary. And I'm not talking lipstick.
