Hi Paul

Thanks for the imagery assembling for the Niger Delta in Mali.

On march 14, COVABAR has organized a conference on the use of geomatic for agriculture management.  A consortium bought Lidar imagery for a large portion of the Richelieu valley in Quebec.Various presentations showed how this imagery is used for modeling of landforms and to contribute to a better management of agriculture.

Evan Rodgers from Agriculture Canada in Manitoba made an interesting presentation about the utilization of the Lidar technology. In addition to multispectral analysis, these laser radars mounted on an airplane detect quite precisely the elevations. When you have a high density of measured points,  the Visual recognition systems can detect forms, trace buildings and determine landuse (ie. trees, shrub, grass, wetland, water, etc.).  The software used by Evan work with a script where you establish various criterias to detect and classify objects. These can be filtered and presented as various layers.  This also trace elevations, detect depressions and where the water circulates.
