When you delete any object using any editor, the IDs are insofar
affected as the object the ID points to is marked as deleted. Don't
know if you are happy with a valid ID pointing to nowhere. ;)

Using "replace geometry" you can re-trace your building, mark both old
and new way and apply the tool so the old way with its nodes gets the
shape of the new way but keeps its and the nodes old IDs.
