[OSM-talk] combining nodes with ways

Stats Canada is looking at using OSM as a source of data. They are
particularly interested in buildings and associated attributes in Ottawa
and Gatineau.
When I look at Ottawa there are a number of shopping malls, every store has
the same address and postcode except they might have a different unit
number. So we often have a building outline with nodes inside representing
the stores.
Some stores have been mapped as a node and tagged with an address including
a postcode, some buildings have been tagged with an address and postcode
some do not. Some buildings outlines have a node inside that just has the
address and nothing else.
Stats can probably associate the building outlines with an internal node
containing the address but is there a simple way to either copy the address
information or merge the node into the building way carrying the address
information with it?
Thanks John
