This conversation is a perfect example that that is not true. Anyone,
anywhere in the world is free to join in.

I fail to see how that is a problem. Rarely do things in OSM need
immediate responses.

If there were a record, many IRC discussions wouldn't occur. It's often
used by the weak/arrogant who are too scared/self-important to have
their opinions verified & countered.

That's another good reason to use Newsgroups/Web forums & not the
knee-jerk response inducing IRC.
